Governor Simon Lalong has called on the national youth service to introduce more programmes for corps members that will assist them appreciate the need for entrepreneurship, patriotism and responsibility in the positive use of social media for national development.
The governor said this when he declared open the 2020 NYSC pre-orientation workshop holding in Jos, Plateau State.
He said the NYSC has done a lot in promoting national unity and understanding among the youths which must now be strengthen with more programs for youth engagement and self reliance.
The governor also used the opportunity to elaborate on the call for better management of the social media in the country, insisting that the no one advocated for the muzzling of social media or the suppression of freedom of expression which is guaranteed by democracy and Nigeria’s constitution
Director general of the NYSC Brigadier General Shuaib Ibrahim commended the government and people of plateau state for sustaining peace and supporting the NYSC to deliver on its mandate.
Participants at the workshop are drawn from across the country.
