About two hundred and fifty youths have been trained on fish farming in Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna state.

The training was organized by the Nigeria Institute for Oceanography and Marine Research (NIOMR), Lagos.

Speaking at the closing ceremony in Kagoro, the Executive Director, NIOMR, Dr. Abiodun Sule said the training programme will improve the local economy and the state GDP.

Dr. Sule, who was represented by the Chief Research Officer of the Institute, Ayaobu-Cookey maintained that training youth and women sustains the generation, urging the beneficiaries to develop the spirit of entrepreneurship by putting into practice what they have gain from the training.

Addressing the beneficiaries, the member representing Kaura Federal Constituency, at the National Assembly, Gideon Gwani said, the programme is aimed at promoting agriculture and self-sufficiency among the youth.

Represented by Mr. Lucas Zamani (Dan Iyan Kagoro), Gwani added that the empowerment programme is in line with the objective of grooming the youth to become job-creators, rather than job-seekers, and advised them to make good use of the opportunity.
